Call for applications "LGBTI Fund"

The International Fund for Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity launches a third call for projects in the service of the promotion and effective realization of all human rights for LGBTI people. The fund will award successful applicants a grant ranging from 50,000 to 60,000 euros.

The International Fund for Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity

The International Fund for Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity was created in 2009 by France, the Netherlands and Norway, following the first statement on the orientation and gender identity co-supported by France and the Netherlands at the United Nations General Assembly in 2008.

Since its creation, the Fund has received nearly € 800,000 (60% of which are French contributions). These contributions made it possible to launch two calls for projects in 2010 and 2014, during which seven projects were selected (China, Georgia, Uganda, Philippines, Dominican Republic, Togo, Vietnam).

Objectives of the third call for projects

The fund has launched a third call for proposals whose specific objectives are to contribute :

documentation of human rights violations targeting LGBTI people
to improve respect for their rights
building the capacity of organizations that defend the rights of LGBTI people

Each grant will be between 50,000 and 60,000 euros, which can cover up to 100% of the project budget over a period of 12 to 24 months.

Application procedures

Each project should target only one country, among the countries eligible for official development assistance.

Applicants must meet the following criteria :

to be a legal person
to be a non-profit organization
to be a non-state actor
be directly responsible for the development and management of the budget

In some cases, an application may be received from individuals or entities prevented from acquiring legal personality under national law by reason of the very purpose of their mission.

Applications must be submitted (in French or English) by email to lgbtifund.afeti[at]gmail.com before 8 October 2018 at 12:00 (noon), Paris time (GMT + 1) . Applicants are invited to download the files below (terms of reference and annexes) to complete their application files.
